Yesterday I attended the Thirty Ate restaurant media launch of their new look and new menu. I was invited by Zomato (my favourite restaurant app) to attend and it was a wonderful evening. Thirty ate is a wonderful restaurant situated at on the ground floor of the Grand Daddy Hotel in Long Street, Cape Town. The eccentric, vibrant, quirky and beautiful hotel with their vintage caravans parked on the roof makes this hotel one to visit and now their gorgeous restaurant makes it a place to eat.
The event was all about their signature cocktails and gourmet canapés. The cocktails were wonderful – my favourite was the Johnny Walker flower – think whiskey, lemon and elderflower – magic! The canapés catered for everyone – there were cold treats including chorizo, mozzarella and basil skewers, shrimp and avocado salad in large lettuce leaves, chicken korma on ciabatta. The hot canapés also blew me away with their ostrich steak skewers with teriyaki sauce, gourmet spring rolls and grilled halloumi with pesto on roasted aubergine.
Their menu boasts a meal for everyone including all dietary requirements. A wonderful evening – thank you to Ursula and her team for hosting a great event.
